Summary

Proposes an alteration to the Constitution to recognise First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to make representations to the Parliament and the Executive Government of the Commonwealth on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The bill was passed by an absolute majority of each House of the Parliament. The proposal was not approved at the subsequent referendum on 14 October 2023
